Each year, Sacramento Poetry Week invites our community to share their words through our citywide poetry contest. This year, we are offering two $250 cash prizes—one for youth and one for adults (18+).

What makes this contest unique is that winners are chosen by random draw. Every poem has the same chance to win, no matter your experience or skill level. Whether you are writing your very first poem or adding to a lifetime of work, your voice matters and your entry counts.

The contest is open to all Sacramento County residents. All work must be original and written by the person submitting. We encourage writers of every age and background to join in and add their voice to Sacramento’s growing tradition of poetry.
